Gaetano Bisleti
Gaetano Cardinal Bisleti (born March 20, 1856 in Veroli , Province of Frosinone , Italy , † August 30, 1937 in Grottaferrata , Province of Rome ) was a Curia Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church .
Life
Gaetano Bisleti received his theological and philosophical training in Tivoli and Rome . He received on 20 September 1878, the sacrament of holy orders and was then six years canons in Veroli. In 1889 he was appointed canon of the patriarchal Vatican basilica in Rome. Pope Leo XIII. awarded him in 1901 the title of papal house prelate and papal chamberlain. in these offices he was confirmed by Pope Pius X after his election in 1903. In 1905 Gaetano Bisleti became Prefect of the Papal Household . Pope Pius X accepted him on November 27, 1911 as a cardinal deacon with the title deaconry Sant'Agata dei Goti in the college of cardinals .
Gaetano Cardinal Bisleti was Honorary and Devotion Grand Cross Bailli of the Sovereign Order of Malta and from 1914 to 1937 Grand Prior of the Grand Priory of Rome of the Order of Malta. In 1915 he became cardinal prefect of the newly established congregation for seminaries and universities . As a cardinal protodeacon he crowned Pope Pius XI on February 12, 1922 . Gaetano Cardinal Bisleti represented the Pope at several celebrations as papal legate . In 1928 he was elevated to cardinal priest pro hac vice while retaining his titular church . In 1932 he became President of the Pontifical Commission for Biblical Studies, Grand Chancellor of the Pontifical Gregorian University and President of the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Music . Gaetano Cardinal Bisleti died on August 30, 1937 in Grottaferrata and was buried in the Marian shrine L'Olivella in Veroli.
