description
Campylostachys cernua is a small, multi-stemmed shrub that forms tubercles . The leaves are heather-like, linear, furrowed and pointed towards the front. They stand in whorls of four leaves and spread widely.
The flowers are in terminal, slightly drooping, spherical spikes . The flowers are sessile and are accompanied by opposite, lanceolate-pointed bracts. The five petals stand free and overlap like roof tiles. They are hairless and sticky, narrowly lanceolate, pointed forward and boat-shaped. The crown is broadly tubular and consists of four equal, hairless petals. The corolla tube and the free-standing parts of the petals are roughly the same length. There is a ring of hair in the crown throat. The four stamens have dorsally fixed anthers that protrude far beyond the crown. The ovary is ovoid-cylindrical and slightly depressed. It is twofold, in each ovary compartment there is a single ovule basal . The stylus is straight, round and hairless.
