technical infrastructure
The Canal du Clignon is 2.4 kilometers long, its width is, as was originally customary for the entire Canal de l'Ourcq, 3.20 meters. It has no locks and is mainly used to supply the Canal de l'Ourcq with water. Since that runs on the other side of the Ourcq, the river was spanned with a canal bridge.
history
The construction was carried out by the engineer Marie-Emile Vuigner between 1839 and 1841 after the water supply for the Canal de l'Ourcq, which had been built earlier, had proven to be inadequate.
Economical meaning
The canal never had any relevant economic importance. Today attempts are being made to use the canal for water tourism . For this reason, boat trips are organized from the northern end of the Canal de l'Ourcq, which take the Canal de Clignon to Moisy. There is the Templar Commandery Moisy-le-Temple with a Gothic chapel from 1210.
