The Cantwell Creek is a 34 km long left tributary of the Jack River in Alaska .
Cantwell Creek is fed by Cantwell Glacier on the southeast side of the northern Alaska range at an altitude of about 950 m . The river initially flows 14 km in a south-south-east direction from the mountains. Then it turns sharply to the left and flows for the remaining 20 km in an east-northeast direction. The eastern Broad Pass separates Cantwell Creek from the upper reaches of the Middle Fork Chulitna River . The George Parks Highway runs along the lower reaches of Cantwell Creek. The glacier-fed river finally flows into the Jack River at the Cantwell settlement .
The river is named after John C. Cantwell , a US officer and explorer of interior Alaska in the late 19th century.
