The Capanna Cògnora ( German : Cognorahütte) is a self-catering hut near Sonogno in Val Vegornèss in the Ticino Alps . It is one of the five shelters that make up Via Alta della Verzasca and belongs to the Società Escursionistica Verzaschese (SEV).
description
It is located at 1938 m above sea level. M. in a side valley of the Verzasca valley . It was inaugurated in 1986. The original alpine building on Alp Cògnora was converted into a mountain hut.
The two-story brick hut with stone roof has a lounge and dining room with 20 seats. The kitchen is equipped with a wood and gas stove and cookware. Toilets and running water are inside the building. The hut is heated with wood and illuminated with solar cells. The 18 beds are in one room.
The hut is the stage of the seventh stage of the Via Alta Idra high-altitude path , which leads in 12 stages from the source of the Ticino river to its mouth in Lake Maggiore .

- From Sonogno 918 m above sea level. M. , the cabin can be achieved 3 ½ hours walking (Difficulty T3). Sonogno can be reached by public transport.
