history

Sonogno was called in 1200 Sornono , 1417 Senognio and belonged in the Middle Ages "neighborhood Verzasca". From 1395 to 1843 the village formed a municipality with the neighboring town of Frasco. From 1850 a wave of emigration overseas and later to the urban centers began, which led to a noticeable decrease in the population.

In 1974 the Museum of the Verzasctal was opened in Sonogno, which bears witness to the rural life of the valley in the past.
