Avalanche disaster on February 11, 1951
The village of Frasco was badly hit in the winter of 1951. After intense snowfall, on February 11, 1951 at 9:30 p.m., the snow cover above Monte Pampinedo broke away over a width of around 600 meters . The amount of snow moved through several gullies down into the valley and combined into a single huge avalanche that led into the middle of the village and almost reached the church. 10 houses, 14 stables and 8 barns were buried.
There were still 14 people in the buried houses. Ten people were rescued alive, one of whom died from serious injuries after 10 days.
