Capital C ( spelling CAPITAL C ) is a documentary by directors Jørg Kundinger and Timon Birkhofer about crowdfunding . The film was co-funded through a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.com and is considered the world's first feature documentary on the subject. The film was also financially supported by the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern and the German Film Funding Fund . The English-language title song of the film comes from the German band Glasperlenspiel .

CAPITAL C looks at the successes and failures of three independent artists who bring their ideas to the Internet in order to realize their projects with the help of the crowd:

  • With a multi-million dollar crowdfunding campaign, video game pioneer Brian Fargo is celebrating the comeback of his classic game Wasteland after more than 20 years . More than 60,000 supporters then expect an equal successor to his cult game from the 80s.
  • With his crowdfunding campaign for hand-drawn poker cards, Jackson Robinson sees the opportunity to finally gain recognition as an artist. But the young designer's success soon demands its price from the designer's young family.
  • The hippie mentality of Zach Crain's crowdfunding campaign for knitted bottle warmers not only arouses the interest of thousands of fans. The ABC show Sharktank and competing corporations also want their part of the cake.

CAPITAL C is an independent production by directors Jørg Kundinger and Timon Birkhofer, which was initiated in 2012 via a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.com. 586 supporters from 24 countries gave a total of 84,298 US dollars for the project. Co-producer Myra Productions GmbH

The shooting took a total of three years and therefore much longer than the directors had originally planned. Video game producer Brian Fargo, designer Jackson Robinson and inventor Zach Crain are at the center of these documentary recordings.

The international film premiere took place on September 26, 2014 at the Zurich Film Festival . Further festival screenings took place a. as part of the documentary film festival CPH: DOX in Copenhagen at the Moscow Urban Forum and at the DOK Leipzig in the Leipzig Screening. In Germany, Capital C has been shown in cinemas via Farbfilm Verleih GmbH since 2015. Parallel appeared at the publishing house Orange Press the film accompanying crowdfunding manual Capital C. In May 2015 held in Nuremberg living Jørg Kundinger a crowdfunding conference in Nuremberg in the u. a. the film was also shown.
