Cargo is a German trade magazine for film and related arts. It has been published quarterly by Cargo-Verlag since 2009. Since 2015 she has been designing the “Episode” series of talks on TV series at the Münchner Kammerspiele .

content

Cargo is a film magazine with a claim that goes beyond the film itself. This is reflected in categories such as “other cinema”, in articles on photography, theater and art, as well as in the choice of columnists . “This claim to the whole is what sets Cargo apart from other magazines on the cinema,” wrote the taz in an article that presented the magazine.

Authors

Cargo columnists included the film director Christian Petzold , the Britta singer and publicist Christiane Rösinger and Helgard Haug from the Rimini Protokoll theater group . Peter Praschl, author of Die Welt , has been a columnist since the first issue.

In addition to film critics / film scholars such as Daniel Eschkötter, Elena Meilicke, Stefanie Diekmann or Lukas Foerster, other authors include the editors Ekkehard Knörer , Simon Rothöhler and Bert Rebhandl , the pop theorist Diedrich Diederichsen (formerly Spex ), the writer David Wagner , and the writer Elfriede Jelinek , the film professor Gertrud Koch (FU Berlin) and the filmmaker Rainer Knepperges . The film critic Michael Althen ( FAZ ), who died in 2011, also wrote for Cargo .

The website of the magazine: Cargo-Film

With Cargo-Film , Cargo has had an independent, "excellent" website , according to the Berliner Zeitung, since late autumn 2008 . There you will find exclusive video interviews with directors such as Apichatpong Weerasethakul , Dominik Graf and others, weekly film reviews and a blog that is updated several times a day . The magazine's website was nominated for the 2009 Grimme Online Award in the “Culture and Entertainment” category.
