Britta is a Berlin rock band that was founded in 1997.

history

Founding members were the guitarist Christiane Rösinger (who had previously played with the Lassie Singers ), the drummer Britta Neander (who had already played with Ton Steine Scherben and Rio Reiser ) and the bassist Julie Miess . Britta is marketed by the Berlin record label Flittchen Records , which was run by Christiane Rösinger and Almut Klotz .

Important early appearances were the opening act for Tocotronic and Blumfeld . The first album Irgendwas ist immer was produced by Tobias Levin and received consistently good reviews.

After the first album, Britta met Barbara Wagner at a concert in Jena , who from now on not only played the second guitar, but also took on organizational responsibility with her agency “Headquarter”. The four-man combo then accompanied Blumfeld on the "Old Nobody Tour".

The second album Collection Gold was recorded in the French Blackbox Studio and was no longer as melancholy as the first record. The third record light years ahead was recorded in France and released on Flittchen Records. René Pollesch used some of these titles as accompanying music for his plays. The theme song for his TV series 24 hours are not a day also comes from Britta.

On the following club tour, Sebastian Vogel from the band Kante had to help out on the drums because Britta Neander was tired of tours and wanted to take care of her daughter more. There were also health problems, which is why Herman Herrmann was on the drums for the Blumfeld tour .

The year 2004 was the low point in the band's history: Christiane Rösinger spent several months in hospital due to illness / accidents; the EFA -vertrieb went bankrupt in March and thus brought Flittchen Records to the income of the last Britta-CD; the namesake of the band, Britta Neander, died on December 14, 2004 after a heart operation.

Nevertheless, the band decided in 2005 to continue with Sebastian Vogel on drums. Flittchen Records are financially and organizationally supported by Morr Music . In December 2005, Britta were able to record the new album Das Schöne Leben , which was released in April 2006.

In September 2018 the "Best Of Britta" was released on the Staatsakt label . The compilation includes 14 songs and is accompanied by a tour.
