Carine Bonnefoy

Carine Bonnefoy (* 1974 in Toulon ) is a French jazz pianist, composer and arranger.

Bonnefoy began with the saxophone, but then switched to the piano (she also plays other instruments). In 1990 she won a first prize in interpretation and orchestration in Aix-en-Provence (Jazz futur). In 1992 she moved to Paris and joined the " Paris Jazz Big Band ". In addition, she played u. a. with Didier Lockwood , Bob Mintzer , Kenny Wheeler , Henri Texier and studied at the CNSM Conservatoire de Paris , where she graduated with first prizes in 1998.

In 2004 a solo album "Carine Bonnefoy" was released on Cristal Records and "Something to Change" (with Stéphane Belmondo , Denis Leloup , Gilles Naturel , Guillaume Naturel on the flute, drummer Manhu Roche) also on Cristal and mainly with his own compositions. In 2006 she recorded “Outre Terres” (“Overlands”, Cristal Records) with the Dutch “Metropole Orkest” (under Vince Mendoza ), which is about the discovery of Polynesia (Bonnefoy has roots in Tahiti). She plays celesta and electric piano there and arranged, accompanied by pianist Hervé Sellin and singers Debora Tanguy, Jean-Luc Di Fraya and Nelly Lavergne. In 2006 she arranged for Ivan Lins and the “ Metropole Orkest ”; In 2007 she arranged for the WDR Big Band Cologne , with whom she performed in Cologne's Stadtgarten .

She also composed for the "Swinging Europe Orchester" and arranged the music of the composer Ludovic Bource.

She teaches jazz piano and arrangement in various conservatories. In 2007 she received the Django d'Or (France) for composition.
