Carl-Jürgen Kaltenborn

Carl-Jürgen Kaltenborn (* 1936 ) is a German theologian and university professor .

Life

After studying theology, Kaltenborn was the Baptist parish pastor in Berlin-Weißensee. He did his doctorate with a thesis on Dietrich Bonhoeffer and his student relationship with Adolf von Harnack . His habilitation thesis (Diss.B) from 1976 was a plea for useful violence.

At the beginning of the 1970s, Kaltenborn was FDJ Secretary of the Theological Faculty of Humboldt University and then as International Secretary of one of the leading members of the Christian Peace Conference . His election as secretary in place of the late Wolf-Dietrich Gutsch in 1982 was controlled by the main department (HA) XX (State Apparatus, Churches, Culture, Underground) of the Ministry for State Security and the Church Political Department of the KGB . He published in the Weißenseer Blätter .

Since 1983 he has been Professor of Ecumenism at the Humboldt University. He kept contact with Christian councils in socialist countries in Africa and America and made several study trips to Cuba and Angola . Since his retirement as a university lecturer, he has been involved as the founder and long-term chairman of the Pankepark e. V. and in the network for tolerance in Bernau. He was also chairman of the Alexander von Humboldt Society for several years ,

For Peter Franz's autobiography , Kaltenborn wrote the introductory "word of friend before" in 2017.
