Carl Andreas Naumann

Carl Andreas Naumann (born November 14, 1786 in Ziebigk near Köthen ; † March 12, 1854 ibid) was an important German ornithologist and brother of Johann Friedrich Naumann .

Life

From 1802 to 1803 Carl Andreas completed a practical forestry apprenticeship in the Nedlitz near Zerbst. From 1807 he was the personal hunter of Duke August Christian Friedrich von Anhalt-Köthen and took over the forestry in Klein-Zerbst in 1811 .

His famous brother Johann Friedrich Naumann called him his "body hunter" and owed him most of his bird specimens.
