Carl Theodor Wilhelm Blum (born May 4, 1841 in Garssen (Latvian: Gārsene) near Aknīste in Courland ; † February 10, 1906 in Dorpat (Tartu)) was a Lutheran theologian and Volga German pastor, whose sermons were posthumous among the Germans from Russia during the Soviet era were of great importance.

Carl (also: Karl) Blum was the son of the farmer and tenant Peter Blum and his wife Anna née Rosenblat. He attended high school in Mitau (Latvian: Jelgava) and studied from 1860 to 1865 theology at the University in Dorpat (Tartu).

From 1866 to 1867 Blum was as a private tutor in the pastorate Edwahlen (Ēdole) and Dubena active (Dignāja) in Kurland and was on 31 December 1867 in Riga to the Lutheran ministry ordained . This was followed by work as an assistant pastor in Schwanenburg (Gulbene) in Livonia .
