Carl Friedrich Ludwig Christian Freiherr Breidenbach zu Breidenstein (born September 12, 1789 in Breidenstein ; † December 12, 1847 in Darmstadt ) was a Hessian politician and general.

family

Carl Breidenbach Freiherr zu Breidenstein from the middle Hessian noble family of the same name was the son of Colonel Karl Philipp Christian Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Freiherr Breidenbach zu Breidenstein (1751–1813) and his wife Charlotte Elisabeth née von Hein (1758–1792). In 1816 Carl Breidenbach zu Breidenstein, who was a Protestant denomination, married Amalie Johanna nee Blecken von Schmeling (1793-1835). After the death of his first wife, he married Klara Wilhelmine Josepha Theresia née Eberhard (1816-1894) for the second time in 1836 .

Military career

Carl Breidenbach Freiherr zu Breidenstein became Rittmeister in the Hessian Guard Chevaulegers Regiment in 1820 and was promoted to major in the same year . In 1833 he was appointed lieutenant colonel and in 1834 real lieutenant colonel. In 1836 he became 2nd in command and in 1845 Major General .

politics

From the 1st to the 10th electoral term (1820-1847) Carl Breidenbach Freiherr zu Breidenstein was a member of the second chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . In the estates he represented the manorial nobility. He was 2nd President of the Chamber and was a member of the 1st Committee. Politically, he stood for conservative positions. He later became director of the Hessian state debt repayment fund.
