Career

Coming from the youth department of Derby County Dickinson moved to Stoke City in 2002, where he was on April 1, 2004 for the first time in the starting lineup of the first team. A convincing performance and nomination for Player of the Game resulted in a professional contract that was signed two days later. For the 2006/07 season he was awarded to Víkingur Reykjavík together with his teammate Keith Thomas . On October 20, 2006 it was announced that Dickinson was to be loaned to Blackpool FC for a month . However, the loan was extended for another three months.

After his return to Stoke, he completed several convincing games, which brought him a provisional regular place. On January 15, 2009 Dickinson was loaned out to league rivals Leeds United . On his debut, they beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0.

The next loan deal followed on September 23, 2009, when Dickinson joined Barnsley FC for three months in a "double pack" with his teammate Ryan Shotton . He scored his first goal on November 21, 2009 against Cardiff City. In the 93rd minute he scored the first goal of his career with a free kick.

In the 2010/11 season he moved on loan to Portsmouth FC in the English second division.
