Carl Duxa (born January 28, 1871 in Vienna ; † November 14, 1937 there ) was an Austrian painter .

Life

Carl Duxa was the son of the portrait and genre painter Alois Duxa (1843–1918). He was a student at the Vienna Academy from 1888 to 1895 under Josef Mathias Trenkwald (1824-1897). At the end of the 1890s he spent some time in Holland and northwest Germany, especially in Emden .

From 1905 he was a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus and a member of the artists' association "Alte Welt". In 1912 he received the Dumba Prize from the Vienna Artists' Cooperative. His often novelistically colored fabrics move mainly in the circles of rural and petty bourgeois family life.
