Karl Ferdinand Fabricius

Karl Ferdinand Fabricius , also Carl Ferdinand Fabricius (born September 16, 1798 in Stralsund , † April 8, 1842 in Breslau ) was a German legal scholar and local researcher.

Life

Fabricius came from a respected Stralsund family. His father Adam Fabricius was the town councilor and mayor; his half-brother Karl Gustav Fabricius later became mayor of Stralsund .

He attended the Stralsund high school and began studying law at the University of Jena in 1818 . In 1819 he studied in Berlin , 1820/21 at the University of Göttingen and then again in Berlin. From Easter 1822 to 1839 he practiced as a lawyer in Stralsund and became Altermann litteratus of the Gewandhaus Stralsund. In 1832 he received his doctorate. jur. at the University of Göttingen. In 1839 he was appointed associate professor of Roman law at the University of Breslau .

In addition to his legal studies and treatises, he made research on Pomeranian history, in particular on legal and administrative history. His son Ferdinand Fabricius d. J. made an outstanding contribution to the Stralsund city archive as an archivist .
