Carl Ferdinand Fischer

Carl Ferdinand Fischer (born October 18, 1889 in Grenaa , Denmark , † December 16, 1957 in Denmark) was a Danish photographer and silent film cameraman with excursions to German film in the middle of the First World War .

Live and act

From 1905 Fischer received a photographic training and initially also worked in this profession. In 1913 he was hired by Denmark's all-powerful film production company Nordisk Film as a cameraman and subsequently photographed an abundance of mostly short feature films, almost exclusively directed by the directors Sofus Wolder, Lau Lauritzen and Alexander Christian. 1916 followed Fischer a call to Berlin, there are some less important war productions with Denmark's biggest film star Asta Nielsen ( In life eddy , Dora Brandes , The Love ABC , The Eskimo Baby , The orphanage children , the guinea pigs ) to photograph.

The film was shot in the summer of 1916 under the simplest of conditions in the Union Film Atelier in Berlin-Tempelhof. His directors here included the directors Einar Zangenberg and Urban Gad, who were also invited to Germany . After all of these films flopped or were released in the cinemas with considerable delay, Fischer returned to Denmark in 1917. There he stood behind film cameras for a short time, but from the beginning of the 1920s he worked almost exclusively as a photographer.

His older brother Hugo J. Fischer (1881–1940) also worked as a silent film cameraman and worked almost exclusively with the director Lau Lauritzen.
