Carl Gerhard Wilhelm Lodtmann

Carl Gerhard Wilhelm Lodtmann (also Karl Gerhard Wilhelm Lodtmann ; born December 16, 1720 in Osnabrück , † January 5, 1755 in Helmstedt ) was a German lawyer, historian and philosopher.

Life

Lodtmann came from a family of lawyers in Osnabrück who provided several mayors of the city. His father was Johann Justus Lodtmann, his mother Anna Gertrud Lodtmann, née Klövekorn.

He studied at the University of Marburg from 1740 and at the University of Göttingen from 1742 . From 1744 to 1751 Lodtmann was a lawyer in Osnabrück. 1749 he was awarded the dissertation positiones ex iure marcali in episcopatu Osnabrugensi for Doctor of Law doctorate.

In 1751 he became Professor of Jurisprudence at the University of Helmstedt . Lodtmann dedicated his scientific work to the history of the city and the Osnabrück region. His nephew Justus Friedrich August Lodtmann published more of his writings after Lodtmann's death, including Delineatio iuris publici Osnabrugensis .
