Carl Gibson serves as a Lance Corporal with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in the British Army . In 2010 he took part in IBU Cup competitions for the first time in Pokljuka and was 67th and 56th in his first sprints. 56th place is Gibson's best result so far in the second highest racing series in biathlon. The first major event was the 2011 European Biathlon Championships in Ridnaun , where the Briton was 42nd in the individual, 63rd in the sprint and 17th in the relay race with Pete Beyer , Ben Woolley and Simon Allanson .
Nationally, Gibson won its first medals in 2010. With the squadron of his regiment, as well as in the team classification and the military patrol, he came third. In 2011 he came third behind Paul Birmingham and Marc Walker in the individual , and he was again third in the relay and second in the team standings and won the military patrol title with Reg Gentry , Ash Allen and Jim Bowen .
