Carl Joseph Wilhelm Großmann (born August 5, 1816 in Höchst am Main , † June 20, 1889 in Wiesbaden ) was a German lawyer and member of the Nassau parliament.

Großmann was the son of the Mainzollamtbesehers and councilor Johann Jacob Ignatz Großmann (born January 6, 1769 in Steinheim am Main; † March 15, 1850 in Höchst) and his wife Catarina nee Will († October 7, 1857 in Höchst), the daughter of War Councilor Johann Philipp Will. Großmann, who was a Catholic denomination, married Anna Maria, born in Höchst, on May 28, 1846, in Höchst (born August 16, 1813 in Höchst), the daughter of the merchant and innkeeper Johann Seinebach.

Life

Großmann attended the Philippinum Weilburg grammar school from 1830 to 1836 and then studied law at the universities of Heidelberg , Munich and Leipzig . In 1841 he passed his exams and only became procurator in Wiesbaden in 1843 due to illness . In 1846 he was promoted to Dr. jur. PhD. From 1848 he was procurator at the Wiesbaden Court of Appeal , later at the Wiesbaden Court of Appeal . He had the title of judiciary.

politics

After the March Revolution he was from 1848 to 1851 a member of the Estates Assembly of the Estates of the Duchy of Nassau . He was elected in constituency X (Königstein / Höchst). In the state parliament he joined the club of the right . Alongside Ludwig Heydenreich, he was the leading representative of the Greater Germans in the state parliament. From 1862 to 1863 he was a member of the board of the German Reform Association and ensured that it took its seat in Wiesbaden. In 1850 he was elected by the state parliament as a member of the state house of the Erfurt Union Parliament, but did not accept the mandate. Between 1858 and 1863 he was a member of the First Chamber of the Estates. He was elected from the group of landowners, constituency II (Montabaur). From 1864 to 1865 he was a member of the First Chamber as a representative of Friedrich Wilhelm Schütz von Holzhausen . In 1865 he was elected to the second chamber of the state parliament in a by-election for Carl Wirth in constituency VI (Hadamar).
