Carl Karl , also Carl Carl , (born April 4, 1830 in Forchheim , † August 20, 1898 in Munich ) was a German composer and musician .

Life

At the age of 18, Karl joined the 1st Field Artillery Regiment in Munich as a volunteer and worked there as a trumpeter. When the 4th Field Artillery Regiment was set up in Augsburg , he applied for the position of stick trumpeter and passed the entrance examination as the best. For more than 30 years Karl headed the trumpet corps of the Augsburg regiment and developed it into a body of sound "as it has been without precedent so far". He was therefore often ordered to Munich by King Ludwig II . Karl then played with the trumpet corps during the royal dinner.

In 1890 he retired. When Karl died in Munich on August 20, 1898, the Augsburger Abendzeitung wrote in its obituary that the Bavarian Army had "lost the most talented, capable and perhaps most popular military bandmaster" with his demise.

His best-known composition is the “Mussinan March”, which he dedicated to Colonel and regimental commander Ritter von Mussinan as a farewell. In addition, he composed other marches and dances, all of which can be found in the music collection of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek (Mussinan March. 11713-11716 and 11736).
