Carl Ludwig Murtfeldt , also Karl Ludwig Murtfeldt , (* 1745 ; † November 6, 1820 in Bremen ) was a German engineer captain , architect and cartographer .

Murtfeldt was doing military service at the Wilhelmstein Fortress in Steinhuder Meer for the Principality of Schaumburg-Lippe .

In 1788 he moved to Bremen and was active as an engineer captain in the artillery corps . He also worked as an engineer and architect in construction work and measured properties. The Bremen City Theater from 1792 was built under the direction of Murtfeldt in just seven weeks on the Junkernbastion Am Wall near the Ostertor. Appraising peat ships was also one of his tasks.

In 1796 a very precise city ​​map of Bremen was engraved by Georg Heinrich Tischbein (1753–1848) on the basis of his measurements and drawings . This 95 × 62 cm plan is the most detailed floor plan of Bremen created to date and measured so precisely that it can be placed on today's map with a few meters tolerance .

Between 1810 and 1813, Murtfeldt accompanied the construction of the highway in Bremen- Hastedt and Tenever , and from 1815 to 1816 the construction of the highway to Bremen- Horn .
