Carl Miville-Seiler (born July 26, 1921 in Basel ; entitled to live there ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ).

Life

The son of the government and national councilor, Carl Miville senior, began studying law in 1941, but had to do active service. After the Second World War he worked as secretary of the SP Basel-Stadt (1946/47, 1951–56), as editorial secretary of the VHTL in Zurich (1948–51) and as editor of the Basler AZ (1956–61). From 1961 to 1964 he was official guardian . From 1964 to 1986 he headed the AHV of the canton of Basel-Stadt and from 1978 to 1986 he was also head of the Basel-Stadt compensation office.

In 1947/48, from 1953 to 1964 and again from 1968 to 1978, Miville was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt , which he also chaired in 1977/78. 1978/79 Miville was a member of the National Council and from 1979 to 1991 a member of the Council of States ; from 1986 to 1991 he was also a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe .

From 1972 to 1977 Miville presided over the SP Basel-Stadt and from 1978 to 1985 the VPOD Basel-Stadt. From 1956 to 1980 he was a member of the bank council of the Basler Kantonalbank , from 1964 to 1980 of the monument council of Basel-Stadt.

Miville also wrote verses in Basel German , still at the age of 92.
