Carl Momberg

Carl Momberg (born February 20, 1901 in Braunschweig ; † March 15, 1988 ibid) was a German opera singer (baritone) and director .

Life

Momberg worked in the construction of calculating machines until 1924 before he trained as a singer in his hometown. He first appeared in Braunschweig in 1926. From 1928 to 1930 he studied at the Leipzig Conservatory . He played at theaters in Görlitz , Halle and Weimar , appeared at the Handel Festival in Halle and at the Silesian Music Festival . From 1933 to 1967 he was engaged at the Braunschweig State Theater , where he appeared as a lyric baritone in numerous operas and operettas. Since 1950 he has also worked as an opera director and worked as a singing teacher. Hans Günter Nöcker was one of his students . He was made an honorary member of the Braunschweig State Theater.
