In 1899 he founded a "teaching studio for plastic arts". At first he made decorative works in plaster, wood and stone there. Then he devoted himself entirely to fine art and discovered his passion for the portrait subject. In 1902 he founded the "Lippische Kunstverein" together with Martha Caesar, organized art exhibitions and was also active as a writer on several occasions.
