Carl Wuppesahl (born July 5, 1873 in Bremen , † December 1, 1954 in Bremen) was a German businessman and insurance broker in Bremen.

biography

Wuppesahl was the son of Henrich Wuppesahl and grandson of Carl Johann Wuppesahl, who founded an insurance company for marine insurance in Bremen in 1858. Carl Wuppesahl completed an apprenticeship as an insurance salesman in Paris , London and New York . In 1902 he became a partner in the family business. He and several other members of the family managed the company of national importance, which was and is owned by his family but also by other shareholders. The company's offices were located in Bremen at Langenstrasse 118, from 1865 in the annex building, from 1968 on the Herrlichkeit and since 2017 as C. Wuppesahl eK in Parkallee in Bremen.

After the First World War he was a representative of the marine insurance companies in the Reich Committee for the Reconstruction of the German Merchant Fleet . He was a member of the German People's Party (DVP). From 1927 to 1933 he was elected to the Bremen citizenship . He was represented on various supervisory boards and on the administrative board of Sparkasse Bremen . His collection of books from Bremen was significant.

Wuppesahl was with Anna Wuppesahl, geb. Niemann, married. Both had five children. The Wuppesahl house , Goebenstrasse 1 , built for them in 1901 , is a listed building.
