Carl Zimmer (* 1966 ) is an American author , blogger and journalist . In particular, Zimmer writes scientific reports on the topics of evolution and parasitism .

Zimmer has written several non-fiction books and articles have been published in US newspapers such as The New York Times and Discover . Zimmer is a Fellow at Yale University's Morse College . He lives in Guilford , Connecticut with his wife, Grace Farrell Zimmer, and their two children . Carl Zimmer's father was Dick Zimmer , a Republican MP from New Jersey who sat in the United States Congress from 1991 to 1997. His brother Benjamin Zimmer works as a linguist .
