Carl von der Hellen

Carl von der Hellen (born May 10, 1843 in Bremen , † April 11, 1902 in Düsseldorf ) was a German landscape painter from the Düsseldorf School of Painting .

His parents were the judiciary Willeaume Michael von der Hellen (born November 15, 1805; † April 20, 1885) and his wife Elisabeth Fehrmann (born February 8, 1810; † September 29, 1874).

Carl von der Hellen studied from 1859 to 1863 as a private student of Oswald Achenbach in Düsseldorf. After a short stay in Munich , he continued his studies from 1864 to 1868 at the Grand Ducal Baden Art School in Karlsruhe with Hans Fredrik Gude .

Carl von der Hellen visited Paris in 1869 and Rome in 1870 . In 1871 he settled in Düsseldorf. The artist presented his works a. a. in the Munich Glass Palace .

He died unmarried in 1902 in Düsseldorf.
