Carlo Ambrogio Affaitati
Carlo Ambrogio Affaitati (born January 12, 1625 in Albogasio , † December 31, 1695 ibid) was an Italian priest. He was Canon of Warmia , chaplain, secretary and confessor of Luisa Maria Gonzaga , Queen of Poland .
Life
Carlo Ambrogio was born in Valsolda and grew up there. Little is known about his early years. At the age of twenty-five he worked at the Polish court. He was the confessor of the Queen of Poland, Luisa Maria Gonzaga, who got him the support of the new ruler John II Casimir in 1649 .
At that time he brought his brothers Antonio and Isidoro Affaitati to the Polish court, who both became architects of the Kingdom of Poland. After the death of Luisa Maria Gonzaga in 1667 and the abdication of John II Casimir in 1668, Carlo Ambrogio returned to his home village in Valsolda.
He died on New Year's Eve 1695 and was buried according to his will in the pilgrimage church of Madonna della Caravina in Cressogno on January 5th, 1696.
