Carlos Humberto Paredes Monges (born July 16, 1976 in Asunción ) is a former Paraguayan football player and current coach .
As a player, he completed 74 international matches for the Paraguayan national team and took part in the soccer world championships in 1998, 2002 and 2006.
Player career

The midfielder started his career in his hometown with Olimpia Asunción , the most prestigious club in Paraguay, with which he was Paraguayan champion five times from 1995 to 2000. He played a total of five seasons there before he moved abroad for the first time in the 2000/01 season, for the multiple Portuguese champions FC Porto . In Porto he was in the starting eleven for two seasons and was there in 2001 Portuguese Cup winner until he moved to Reggina Calcio in the Italian Serie A in the 2002/03 season. There he was part of the regular formation and convinced with consistently good performances. For the 2006/2007 season Paredes moved back to the first Portuguese league for the capital club Sporting Lisbon . There he could not assert himself and was only used eight times. He returned to Paraguay after just one season, where he signed again with his first club, Olimpia Asunción. There he played - with a break at Club Rubio Ñu and Sportivo Luqueño - until the end of his career in 2014 and was champion for the fifth time with the club in 2011.
National team
Paredes was part of Paraguay's squad at the 1998 , 2002 and 2006 World Championships . In 1998 and 2006 he was on the field in all games. In 2002 he played twice and was sent off in the group game against Slovenia in the 22nd minute with yellow and red. Paraguay nevertheless won 3-1 and, like in 1998, made it to the second round.

Coaching career
Paredes has worked as a coach since the end of his active career. From 2015 to 2016 he was initially assistant coach at Olimpia Asunción, where he had recently ended his playing career. In 2016 Paredes coached the Paraguayan U23 national team . In 2017 he coached a first division team, his former club Club Rubio Ñu, for the first time.
