Architecture and history

The plant was founded in 1827 by the mountain rider Johann Ludwig Carl Zincken . The name Carlswerk, which was used when the company was founded, also goes back to him. The oldest preserved building is made of basalt shale in drywall technology built mill . In the period around 1840 a forge was built as a half-timbered building with a sloping roof . The forge was accessed from the north-facing side of the road. Some of the original furnishing elements such as the stove and forge have been preserved.

In the middle of the 19th century it was converted into a machine factory. A brick building was built in the arched style. The gable is staggered. On the upper floor there are coupled windows in which iron columns are set in the middle. The facade is structured by pilaster strips and cornices . In this building, too, parts of the original equipment including historical machines have been preserved.

The monument also includes a forged neo-Gothic plot of land.
