Carmen Stephan (born August 1, 1974 in Berching , Bavaria ) is a German writer and former journalist .

Life

Carmen Stephan worked as a freelance journalist for magazines such as SZ-Magazin , Du, FAS and headed the culture department of Spiegel Online for a while . She lived and worked for a while in Madrid, Dublin, Hamburg and Munich. She also spent from 2002 to 2004 in Rio de Janeiro , where she worked on the work of the architect Oscar Niemeyer . In 2005 her portrait collection Brasília Stories was published by Blumenbar- Verlag. Her debut novel Mal Aria was published in 2012. Her novel It's all true was published in 2017 , which ZEIT wrote: "The description shows great sensitivity for detail and, precisely because of this, experiences a metaphysical charge that is reminiscent of Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea ."
