Carnarvon is a small settlement in the Manawatu-Wanganui region in the south of the North Island of New Zealand .
Origin of name
The settlement was named after the British politician and Colonial Minister Henry Herbert, 4th Earl of Carnarvon .
geography
The settlement is 9 km southwest of Sanson directly on State Highway 1 in the plain of the Rangitikei River .
