Carol Cleveland (born January 13, 1942 in London , England ) is a British actress . She became known for her regular appearances at Monty Python's Flying Circus , in which she often gave the caricature of the blonde sex bomb .

Carol Cleveland was born the daughter of an actor and a "glamor girl" in London, but grew up with her mother and her second husband in the United States after the war . She began acting as a child and successfully competed in beauty contests as a teenager .

In 1960 she returned to England with her family and received a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art , where she began her acting studies the following year. When she graduated from the academy after two years, a number of appearances in television programs and series followed, including The Lotus Eaters and The Avengers (German: With umbrella, charm and bowler hat ). In the latter, she also appeared in the episode A Touch of Brimstone . In addition, she repeatedly worked at the theater.

In 1969 a female actress was wanted for the series Monty Python's Flying Circus and Cleveland got the role. The originally planned three episodes became a permanent role in the series. There she mostly played characters who stood out less through text than through their outward appearance. The actress wasn't happy to be reduced to the role of the sex bomb. Her mother Pat also appeared in a few episodes.

In addition to engagements with Monty Python, she was also seen on Spike Milligan and the Benny Hill Show .
