Carol Cuffy-Dowlat

Carol Cuffy-Dowlat (born 1957 ; died April 14, 2017 in Mount Hope ) was a Trinidadian politician, lawyer and radio host.

life and career

Cuffy-Dowlat was appointed senator for the United National Congress (UNC) party in the Upper House of Trinidad and Tobago in 1995 , where she remained until 2000. During this time she served as Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Housing.

She then sat on the San Fernando City Council and worked as a lawyer and most recently as a talk show host on the radio. She was a sharp critic of Prime Minister Patrick Manning and ran against him in two House elections , but was defeated on both occasions. After she started for the UNC in 2002, she ran for the newly founded party Congress of the People in 2007 .

Cuffy-Dowlat died in 2017 after a serious illness. Her funeral took place according to the Hindu rite.
