Carole Knight

Carole Knight , married Moore , (born June 9, 1957 in Middlesbrough ) is an English table tennis player who had her greatest successes in the 1970s and early 1980s. She won the English championship and the Commonwealth championships several times and was runner-up in 1976 with the English team.

Career

Carole Knight celebrated her greatest successes at the Commonwealth Championships, where she won seven medals: 1975 and 1982 gold with the team, 1979 and 1982 gold in doubles (with Linda Howard and Joy Grundy), 1982 gold in singles, 1979 silver in Individual behind So Hung Hui (Hong Kong) and bronze in the individual in 1975.

In 1975 and 1977 Carole Knight took part in world championships. In 1975 she came in fifth with the English team. In the 1976 she reached the final in the team competition.

She won six titles at the national English championships . In 1977, 1980 and 1982 she won the singles competition, in 1980 and 1982 she also won doubles with Anita Stevenson and in 1984 she was champion in mixed with Skylet Andrew . In 1977 she was first at the Open English Championships .

Activities in Germany

In 1978 Carole Knight was signed by the German Bundesliga club VSC 1862 Donauwörth . A year later she moved to TSV Kronshagen , 1980 to TV Offenbach-Bieber and 1981 to DSC Kaiserberg . With its women's team, she became German champion and German cup winner in 1982.

In 1982 she married Dave Moore and then performed under the name Carole Moore . She returned to England and played in the Premier Division, the top division in England.
