content

The international art exhibition Documenta is in Kassel for 100 days: the taxi driver Jutta Rudolph drives foreign-speaking guests through the city, the native Chinese Rui Yin guides visitors through the exhibitions. The architect Markus Hanisch manages wooden structures in the park, the artists Sam Durant and Ana Prvacki are settling in the city, the pensioner Irene Heinz and her best friend Heinrich visit the art objects, Frank Baum prepares large objects in his carpentry shop on behalf of art At the Fridericianum , the artist Thierry Geoffroy unofficially sets up a labeled camping tent, which will later be removed, an Occupy camp is located in front of the main entrance, an art object must be freed from vandalism, and finally the objects will be dismantled after the end of the Documenta.

background

The directors Katrin and Susanne Heinz are sisters and spent their childhood in Kassel. With their debut film they wanted to show a diverse view of the Documenta, between approval and rejection.

The cinema release in Germany was on July 10, 2014.

Reviews

“The filmmakers deliver a far-reaching, eccentric 'declaration of affection' to their hometown, with both long-time residents and art aficionados being asked about their impressions. This leads to some bizarre situations, but ultimately only reaches those in the know who are generally already familiar with the city or the 'documenta'. "

"For documenta fans a supplement to the exhibition program, otherwise a documentation that hardly stands out and at best has television potential."
