Carum multiflorum is a species of the caraway genus( Carum ). Some authors put it as Hellenocarum multiflorum (Sm.) H. Wolff to the genus Hellenocarum H. Wolff .

features

Carum multiflorum is a perennial stem hemicryptophyte that reaches heights of 10 to 50 centimeters. The leaves have a triangular outline and are pinnate two to four times with egg-shaped sections. The numerous umbels are (12) 15 to 35-rayed. The rays are 10 to 30 millimeters in size. On the inside they are tiny rough. The outer ones are almost horizontal after flowering . The 4 to 8 bracts are about half as long as the flower stalks. The fruit is 3 to 4 millimeters in size and elliptical.

The flowering period extends from April to July.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 20.

Occurrence

Carum multiflorum occurs in the eastern Mediterranean on limestone cliffs at altitudes of 200 to 1900 meters. The distribution area includes Italy, Greece, Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, the Aegean Sea, Crete, Cyprus and Turkey.
