Cash Crash was a German game show that was produced at the MMC Coloneum in Cologne. The first edition was broadcast on March 1, 2013 on the private television station RTL . All issues after that were broadcast under the title Cash Crash - VIP Edition . The show was not broadcast live, but recorded live on tape beforehand .
Gameplay
Three candidates competed in each show for a profit of up to 500,000 euros. They had to prove skill, physical fitness and speed in various team games.
The candidates were briefly introduced at the beginning of the show. Then a box with 500,000 euros in cash was brought in. The contestants had to try to save this money in seven games. Each game lasted 2.5 minutes. Money that was lost during the game could not be saved again and was therefore lost. The banknotes were bundled at different heights. For each game, moderator Daniel Hartwich provided the candidates with a joker, which they received in exchange for part of the remaining money and which made it easier for the candidates to transport the money.
Cash Crash - VIP Edition
From July 2013, the show was broadcast in a celebrity version, the existing game principle was retained - however, celebrities (two teams of three candidates each) competed against each other. After seven rounds of the game, the team that had more money was allowed to move into the final ("Euro rescue package"). The prize money was donated to a charity.
Moderation
The show was hosted by Daniel Hartwich . Tobias Drews commented on the games. In the VIP Edition, Holger Pfandt commented on the games.

criticism
“'Anyone who watches Daniel Hartwich crack tough jokes in the process, experiences a show rear-end collision: You startle when you notice that you have watched this show to the end. [...] The games are not particularly original. [...] If someone laughs at a joke, it sounds unnaturally loud. In the end, everyone is happy when the show is over: the candidates because they are no longer stuck in the slime or receive power surges, the viewers because they no longer have to endure Hartwich's jokes and Hartwich himself, who is somehow uncomfortable with the whole show concept seems."
