Pedro Poveda Castroverde (born December 3, 1874 in Linares , Spain , † July 28, 1936 in Madrid , Spain) was a Spanish priest , religious founder and martyr . He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church .

Castelroverde was ordained a priest in 1897 and founded schools and workshops for needy children and adults. In 1911 he founded the Theresian Institution of Teresa , which was papally recognized in 1924. In 1913 he was appointed canon and professor in teacher training. From 1921 worked as a chaplain at the royal court in Madrid. During the Spanish Civil War , Pedro was arrested and killed after celebrating a Holy Mass .

He was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1993 and canonized in Madrid in 2003.
