Catacaos is a city in the Piura Province in the Piura region of northwest Peru . In the 2017 census, the population was 44,124. 10 years earlier this was 44,797. The city is the administrative seat of the district of the same name . Irrigated agriculture is practiced in the vicinity of the city.
Geographical location
Catacaos is located in the arid coastal desert of northwestern Peru at an altitude of 28 m . The small town is located 10 km southwest of the city center of the metropolis Piura on the eastern bank of the Río Piura . The city is counted in the metropolitan area of Piura. The national road 1N leads east past Catacaos.
