Catharina Halkes
Catharina ( Tine ) Joanna Maria Halkes (also: Tine Govaart-Halkes ; * July 2, 1920 in Vlaardingen ; † April 21, 2011 in Nijmegen ) was a Dutch Roman Catholic theologian .
Halkes studied Dutch at the Rijksuniversiteit Leiden and worked as a Dutch teacher in Breda . Later she studied theology with a focus on pastoral theology at the Catholic Theological University of Utrecht and at the Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen .
Halkes became known in the 1980s as a member of the Eighth May Movement , a critical movement within the Dutch Catholic Church .
Halkes was also known as a representative of feminist theology and as a prominent member of the Catholic women's movement. From 1983 to 1986 Halkes was the first to hold a chair for feminism and Christianity in the Netherlands at the Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen , where she had worked as a scientist since 1967. In 1982 she was made an honorary doctorate from Yale University . She is considered to be one of the major co-founders of feminist theology. Her book God Has Not Only Strong Sons was published in 1988 in the GDR, published by the Evangelical Publishing House in Berlin .
