Luis Armando Bambarén Gastelumendi SJ (born January 14, 1928 in Yungay ) is a Peruvian clergyman and emeritus bishop of Chimbote .

Life

Luis Armando Bambarén Gastelumendi joined the congregation of the Jesuits in 1944 and was ordained a priest on July 15, 1958 . Pope Paul VI appointed him on December 1, 1967 auxiliary bishop in Lima and titular bishop of Sertei .

The Archbishop of Lima Juan Cardinal Landázuri Ricketts, OFM , donated him episcopal ordination on January 7 of the following year ; Co- consecrators were Ricardo Durand Flórez SJ, Bishop of Cuzco , and Alcides Mendoza Castro , Archbishop ad personam of the Peruvian Military Ordinary .

On June 2, 1978, he was appointed prelate of Chimbote. With the elevation of the territorial prelature to the diocese on April 6, 1983, the first bishop of Chimbote was appointed. On February 4, 2004, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
