The Roman Catholic Diocese of Chimbote ( lat. : Dioecesis Cimbotiensis ) is in the north of Peru located Roman Catholic diocese based in Chimbote .

The diocese of Chimbote extends in the department of Ancash and includes the provinces of Santa , Casma and Huarmey as well as parts of the provinces of Huaraz (districts Pariacoto , Cochabamba and Pampas Grande ), Huaylas (district Pamparomás ) and Yungay (district Quillo ).

history

The Diocese of Chimbote was on November 26, 1962 by Pope John XXIII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Ecclesiae propositum as territorial prelature Chimbote . On April 6, 1983, the territorial prelature Chimbote was raised to the diocese by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Pastoralis cura . The diocese of Chimbote is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Trujillo as a suffragan .
