Ricardo Durand Flórez SJ (born April 16, 1917 in Ambo , † March 19, 2004 in Lima ) was Archbishop ad personam and Bishop of Callao .

Life

Ricardo Durand Flórez joined the Jesuit order and was ordained a priest on December 18, 1948 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him Bishop of Cuzco on February 14, 1966 . The Archbishop of Lima , Juan Cardinal Landázuri Ricketts, OFM , donated him episcopal ordination on March 25 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Felipe Santiago Hermosa y Sarmiento , Military Vicar of Peru , and Alcides Mendoza Castro , Bishop of Abancay . As a motto he chose Bonum facientes non deficiamus (“We do not want to fail to do good”).

Pope Paul VI appointed him on January 14, 1975 Archbishop ad personam and Bishop of Callao.

On August 17, 1995, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
