Celebration is a French documentary by Olivier Meyrou from 2007 about the French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and his relationship with his life and business partner Pierre Bergé .

In 2001, fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent worked in Paris on the designs for his last collection while he was already seriously ill. Meanwhile, his life and business partner Pierre Bergé hosts a number of parties to honor the work of Saint Laurent. The somewhat younger Bergé protects his introverted partner from the outside world, but also dominates it.
criticism
Peter Debruge describes the film in Variety as "an invaluable addition to our understanding of how Yves Saint Laurent - the man, the myth, the brand - worked. Anke Sterneborg noted in her review of epd film that the film Yves Saint Laurent shows "as an almost inconspicuous man with nervous tics".
publication
The film premiered on February 14, 2007 at the 57th Berlin International Film Festival . However, Pierre Bergé had the further publication of the film prohibited. A slightly modified version of the film was only released in 2019, and it was released in French cinemas on November 14, 2019. After festival appearances in Amsterdam , Vilnius and Seattle , the film screened on June 13, 2019 in Russia and on October 2, 2019 in the United States . Celebration celebrated its German premiere at the queer film festival in Stuttgart on August 28, 2019.
