Manfred Kliem

Manfred Kliem (born on May 31, 1934 in Grünberg / Silesia; died on September 5, 2013 in Fredersdorf-Vogelsdorf ) was a German historian , editor and local writer.

Life

Manfred Kliem received his Abitur in Calau in 1952 . From 1952 to 1956 he studied history and art history at the Martin Luther University in Halle and at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 1956 he completed his studies as a graduate historian. Between 1956 and 1959 he worked as a radio journalist. In 1966 he received his doctorate from the Humboldt University for Dr. phil.

From 1962 to 1979 he worked as a lecturer for the Marx-Engels section at Dietz Verlag in Berlin. He supervised the editing of the Marx-Engels-Werke Volumes 5 to 39. His publication Karl Marx. Documents of his life. 1818–1883 led in 1970 to party proceedings at Dietz Verlag. The allegation was that he had violated the work order of a central party institution because he had private contacts with the IISG Amsterdam for the collection of documents. He was temporarily banned from publication. In 1973, Kliem suffered a heart attack. In 1974 he was released from Dietz Verlag.

From 1974 he held various positions at the Humboldt University. In 1983 he completed his habilitation there. In 1990 he received a C2 professorship here and taught at the Humboldt University and at the Otto Suhr Institute .

In 1994/95 he was unemployed and since April 1998 retired. After moving to Fredersdorf, Kliem was active in the Fredersdorf-Vogelsdorf home club from 1999. He wrote u. a. a village chronicle. He died in September 2013 at the age of 79. His widow Ursula Kliem supports the Heimatverein.
