Moses Mendelsohn (born on August 13, 1782 (other information: July 25, 1783 ) in Hamburg ; died in 1861 there ) was a German author.

Mendelsohn was a son of Mendel Hirsch and Zipora, née Lewin. He was married to Fögelchen Philipp Neustädtel.

Mendelsohn wrote several books and was a contributor to important Jewish journals, such as Cohens Ha-Meassef , Philippsons Allgemeine Zeitung des Judentums and Prince Der Orient .

A memorial stone commemorates Moses Mendelson in the honorary complex in the “Grindelfriedhof” area of ​​the Ohlsdorf Jewish cemetery (Ilandkoppel) .
